This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a stunning, award winning show car and a highly dependable cruiser. Built in Van Nuys, California, during the second week of February 1979, the car was treated to a meticulous frame off, nut and bolt restoration that was finished in 2022. It is sold with a clear title.
As a piece of automotive history, the 1979 Firebird marked the end of the 1970s with a redesigned nose featuring four rectangular headlights in their own bezels, moving the split grille below them. The rear end showcased blackout panels to disguise the taillights on Formula and Trans Am models, and all models received revised graphics. Notably, a special silver 10th Anniversary edition Trans Am was sold in what would be the last year for the Pontiac 400 engine, which had been stockpiled from 1978.
Exterior and Undercarriage
Originally painted Heritage Brown from the factory, this Trans Am now sports a striking Nocturn Blue metallic paint job accented with new exterior decals and emblems. The paint and body are rated a solid 9 out of 10, retaining the original trunk and floor pans. The body lines are laser straight, and the doors open and close like new. Underneath, the undercarriage is in factory new restored condition from front to back.
Interior and Comfort
The cabin was completely restored in 2022 with a brand new, factory correct Interior Code 62B “Carmel Cloth.” This comprehensive interior overhaul includes a new steering wheel, dash pad, bucket seats, carpet, headliner, center console, and both front and rear door panels. Modern cruising comfort is enhanced by an updated retro Bluetooth stereo system.
Engine and Performance
Everything on this build has been rebuilt or replaced. Under the hood sits a rebuilt 403 CID engine paired with a rebuilt 3 speed automatic transmission. The entire drivetrain has been driven less than 500 miles since final assembly. Because of this extensive work, the Trans Am starts, drives, and runs just like a brand new car.
Drivetrain, Suspension, and Brakes
The driving dynamics have been entirely refreshed with a completely new suspension system, including new shocks and rear leaf springs. Power is put to the ground through a factory real limited slip axle, and stopping power is provided by a 4 wheel disc brake setup. The exhaust system is also completely new, featuring fresh pipes, mufflers, and a catalytic converter.

The Air Conditioning and Heater systems are fully complete, however, they are currently non operational.
