This Pontiac Firebird 400 was fully restored (frame-on) in 2010, including a rebuilt (non-original) 400 engine and TH400 transmission, along with the interior, paint, and body. Every body bushing, nut, and bolt was replaced, as well as the entire suspension system (front and rear), and a new exhaust system with crossover pipes was installed. The complete electrical system was re-wired using a Painless Performance kit. All components, from under the hood to the trunk, were refinished or powder-coated. Additionally, new window felts, weather stripping, trunk seals, door jamb seals, and nearly every rubber component on the car were replaced.
The current owner purchased this Firebird 400 in San Fernando in 1981. Built in Van Nuys, California, the car has spent its entire 56-year life in Southern California, where it has been consistently garaged and well maintained. The vehicle is completely rust-free. Since the 2010 restoration, only 6,470 miles have been driven.
The body and paint are rated 9 out of 10, with only minimal chips and a few touch-ups. Panel alignment, including doors and hood lines, is excellent all around. Chrome, moldings, and exterior trim are in outstanding restored condition. The doors, trunk, and hood open and close properly, and all lights and turn signals function as intended.
The vinyl interior has been fully replaced, except for the door panels, which have been restored. The front bucket seats have been upgraded with comfort-weave breathable material. The trunk retains the original spare tire, bumper jack, and tire tools.
This Firebird 400 delivers strong performance, capable of breaking traction thanks to its limited-slip rear differential. The exhaust produces a classic hot rod sound, and the car presents beautifully on the road. It starts easily, handles smoothly, and offers a comfortable, rattle-free ride. Throttle response is strong both off the line and at highway speeds.
Restored to approximately 95% stock condition, this Pontiac Firebird includes performance upgrades and subtle cosmetic enhancements. It is also a rare model, with only 11,641 convertibles produced in 1969. Maintenance and repair records have been documented from 1982 through 2023.
Since its restoration and repaint in 2010, this 1969 Firebird has been continuously garaged and covered. The sale includes historical documentation, receipts, the original owner’s manual, and keys.
